There are several types of Diabetics. In type1 diabetes, our body doesn’t make insulin. In type2 diabetes, the body doesn’t use insulin easily and may not make enough insulin that much needed for our body. It is the most common form of diabetics.

Step-1
To test your blood sugar level, you must have collected the following instruments.
- Testing meter (glucometer)
- Test strips
- Lancing device
- Lancet (middle)
- Sharps bin
Step-2
In the second step, you have to wash your hand finely with lukewarm water and dry. Then make sure your hands are dry.
Step-3
Insert the lancet into the hole of the lancing device, then remove the protective cover to open the needle. Then replace the cap over the lancing device.
Step-4
Check the expiry date of your strip and then insert an unused strip into the meter until the meter “beeps” or the screen turns on.
Step-5
Choose a finger to test but avoid your index finger or thumb and place the loaded lancing device against the edge of your fingertip and push the button until it releases the needle.
Step-6
After step 6, we have to wait for 3 or 4 sec and hang down your finger until a drop of blood comes to the surface.
Step-7
Now it is the time to record your blood sugar level you can note with a paper or pen it is best to remember the date and record the point whatever you get.
Step-8
It is the last step and at this step; we use a tissue to remove the test strip from that glucometer, which usually turns it off. Like a testing strip, a lancet is also using one. So remove that lancet from your lancing device and clean up.

Finally looking at the record, your Doctor treats you if you need treatment. And there is also HbA1c, which measures your blood glucose level from the previous 2 or 3 months. It is made when the sugar in your body stops to your blood cell. A slightly high HbA1c makes you more risk and serious. It gets high means it needs more attention and will be done in 3 to 6 months and it is very important don’t skip it.
Blood glucose level is different in a normal person and a diabetes person
- In a normal person before the meal, the glucose level is 4.0 to 5.9 mmol/L. And at least 90 minutes after the meal, the glucose level is under 7.8 mmol/L.
- In children with type1 diabetes when wake up the sugar level is 4 to 7mmol/L. Before meal (pre-prandial) sugar level is 4 to 7 mmol/L and after 90 minutes of meal (postprandial) glucose level is 5 to 9 mmol/L.
- Except for children the person who have suffering in type1 diabetes when wake up the sugar level is 5 to 7 mmol/L. Before meal 4 to 7 mmol/L and after 90 minutes of meal 5 to 9 mmol/L glucose level.
- The person who have suffering in type2 diabetes, before a meal the sugar level is 4 to 7 mmol/L, and after 90 minutes of the meal the sugar level is under 8.5mmol/L.
- When fasting the normal people’s blood sugar level is 4.0 to 5.4 mmol/L.
